Introduction


The Post Graduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management aims to provide students with:

  1. 1)The ability to understand the interrelationship between the hospitality and tourism sectors
  2. 2) To explore the strategic issues in relation to business planning and development within the hospitality and           tourism sectors, rather than operational issues
  3. 3) To prepare candidates for senior management roles within the hospitality and tourism industry
  4. 4) To develop higher level academic skills to enable them to transfer to masters level study

  • Hospitality and Tourism Strategic Planning (30 credits)
  • Hospitality and Tourism Marketing Strategies (30 credits)
  • Management and Leadership Across Cultures (30 credits)
  • Research Methods for Hospitality and Tourism Managers (30 credits)
  • IHTM Essentials
  • Assessment:

    Is by a combination of course work, presentation, assignments and projects. All assessments are externally moderated by CTH and all units must be passed to gain this qualification.

    Onward Progression:

    Candidates who successfully achieve the Post Graduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism can progress onto the final stages of Masters level study (dissertation) with the University of Sunderland.
  • Entry Requirements

  • Minimum age: 19
  • Bachelor degree in Hospitality/Tourism Management (from a recognised institution) or 
  • Bachelor degree in any discipline (from a recognised institution) or a minimum of 3 years work experience in the Hospitality and/or Tourism Sector at managerial or supervisory level
